Our family arrived at The Girls Strawberry U-Pick early Saturday morning. As we pulled up to this quaint country store, I found it hard to contain my excitement. We made our way through the store (if you can get past all the delectable homemade treats and kitschy gifts) and out the back door to be greeted with this...
Making our way to the strawberry patch took longer than we had expected. We wanted to be able to take in all the animals, plants, and produce that were on display. They also have rescued and donated wild birds, swans, a giant tortoise and miniature donkeys.
She was giddy with excitement at the idea of picking her own strawberries.

| Ava and grandma, best buddies forever. |
| With all of these fresh strawberries I had to take them home and make something yummy! |
My daughter loved being able to cut her own strawberries and place them in her bucket. I loved involving my daughter in an activity that was fun and educational. She got to see the process of how food is grown and how it gets to be a delectable pie that we enjoy at home.

Walking through the hydroponic fields of strawberries was more than a delight. My husband and I felt like kids, with smiles stretched from ear to ear, it was a wonderful stress free family activity. We could have easily stay here all day but our tummys were rumbling and ready for lunch at the Cracker Barrel. In total, we collected 11 pounds of fresh, mouth watering strawberries.
A word of advice, the prices are NOT listed on their website nor in the store. They are $4.99 a pound, which is A LOT of money but you are also paying for the experience. There is no cost to enter the strawberry field.

Ava's Strawberry Pie
Incredibly simple to make. The only time consuming part is hulling the strawberries but it's worth it, I promise.
Ingredients
1 (9 inch) pie crust, baked
2 pounds fresh strawberries
Marzetti Strawberry Glaze
Whip Cream
Directions
2 pounds strawberries, hulled and halved.
Fill a 9" prebaked pie shell with fresh strawberries.
Pour Marzetti Strawberry Glaze over berries.
Chill for 4 hours.
Top with whipped cream when ready to serve.
